A week of fun and philanthropy benefiting the Foundation’s Teacher Grant Program The Katy ISD Education Foundation announces GROOVE23, a week-long celebration uniting the community in support of Katy ISD teachers. Katy ISD Student Named 6A UIL Congressional Debate State Champion

Seven Lakes High School junior and Congressional Debate Squad Captain Fadhil Lawal recently earned the 6A University Interscholastic League (UIL) Congressional Debate State Championship in Austin, Texas.  The competition featured the best congressional debaters from across the state.  Lawal spent 14 hours over two days modeling a session of the United States House of Representatives at the University of Texas – Austin and the Texas State Capitol.  He debated various items of legislation across a […]

Board of Trustees Approve Additional Holiday for Staff

During their regular February meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved amending the 2022-2023 Instructional Calendar to provide staff members with an additional paid holiday on Monday, April 10, 2023.  This was previously a professional development day for staff and was already a student holiday.  With the approved change, both students and staff will enjoy a four-day Easter weekend. Alejandro Avendano Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) Chair

The chairperson for Katy ISD’s Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) was formally announced at tonight’s Board meeting.  Alejandro Avendano will lead the 150-member CBAC as they assess budgets and campus capital needs, as well as through important decision-making processes leading to the development of a potential November 2023 schools bond.
