Private First Class Lawrence Cox United States Marine will be buried at the National Cemetery on 31 JAN at 1415. PFC Cox remains were found in a storage shed with his DD-214 and a Letter from President Reagan. American Legion Post 490 accepted the challenge to find a next of kin and was unsuccessful. Volunteers to smoke 550+ turkeys, deliver more 8,000 Thanksgiving meals this Wednesday/Thursday

1,000+ volunteers at 5 locations will smoke 550+ turkeys and prepare more than 8,300 Thanksgiving meals (as of current registration/requests received from families in need/partner organizations) this Wednesday. The festive meals will include not only a generous portion of turkey, but also beans, corn, potatoes and pumpkin pie as well as a drink. Volunteers will not only prepare and plate the meals. Members of American Legion Post 164 and Auxiliary in Katy will be at three locations on Saturday, Aug. 18 to collect damaged and worn-out American flags. American Legion flag retirement ceremony

Members of American Legion Post 164 in Katy conducted a flag retirement ceremony June 11 with assistance from Boy Scout Troop 73 and Harris County Emergency Services District No. 48.    Hundreds of old flags from the community were burned in barrels.  The ceremony outside the Elks Lodge followed a flag history ceremony by the Elks.  (Photo by Jennifer Pizarras) (Greg Clock, Post 164 public relations officer, 281 703 8567)
