By Tom Behrens Seven Lakes girls at the top As 2017 comes to a close Seven Lakes (15-7, 2-0), Katy (17-5, 2-1), Tompkins (10-6, 2-1) and Taylor (15-7, 2-1) girls’ basketball teams are the top teams in District 19-6A. Katy Independent School District Offers Two High Schools as Shelters, and Transportation to Help Evacuees Get to Shelters

By George Slaughter The Katy Independent School District continues to play a role in the community’s recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey. The district has opened two schools as shelters: Cinco Ranch High School, 23440 Cinco Ranch Blvd., and Morton Ranch High School, 21000 Franz Road. City Council Passes Ordinance Restricting Parking Near Katy High School During School Hours

By George Slaughter The Katy City Council Monday night passed an ordinance that restricts parking during school hours on school days on selected residential streets near Katy High School. The ordinance comes after complaints from residents who live near the school. Students have been parking their cars in front of those residents’ homes, which prevented garbage and recycle pickup and mail delivery. On the volleyball courts: The Lady Tigers and Lady Spartans of Katy High School and Seven Lakes High School respectively, advance to the quarterfinals in the 2016 UIL State Volleyball Championships. In Bi-district competition Taylor lost to Austin 3-2, Seven Lakes beat Travis 3-0, Katy took care of Dulles 3-2 and Cinco Ranch lost to Ridge Point 3-0.
