Harris County, TX, October 11, 2026 – Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo released the following statement after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) vehicle struck Miguel Parra-Hernandez on Saturday in northwest Houston during an enforcement operation and hospitalized him with a broken leg:
“I am grateful that the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident so we can get all the facts and full transparency into what happened. Unfortunately, we know all too well that ICE’s playbook is to obfuscate and delay when someone is in the hospital at their hands. We can’t stand by and let that happen again. I urge ICE, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and all agencies involved to give Sheriff Gonzales and District Attorney Teare all evidence, body camera video and audio recordings, and any other information related to this incident. We must have a full and complete investigation by our local authorities. I am hopeful that Mr. Parra-Hernandez will be able to access the medical support he needs as he recovers, and that he is able to see his family and get any legal representation he may need. We must continue to hold ICE accountable and demand transparency,” said Judge Hidalgo.
