Harmony Public Schools, University of Houston-Victoria announce new partnership to improve college completion for HPS alumni

Harmony Public Schools and the University of Houston-Victoria will be announcing a new partnership that will provide an affordable, high-quality college opportunity to more Harmony graduates in coming years.

Harmony Public Schools and the University of Houston-Victoria will announce a new partnership agreement on Tuesday that will expand access to affordable, high-quality college education to new graduating Harmony seniors each school year.

The partnership will be announced 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 25 at a joint event at the Harmony Central Office.

As part of the partnership, the University of Houston-Victoria will admit and enroll any Harmony senior or alumni who graduates within the top 50 percent of their class and holds at least a 2.5 GPA average during high school. Together, the institutions will collaborate on college retention and completion initiatives to further increase the rate at which Harmony grads finish their college degree.

The opportunity is available to Harmony graduates from across the state, including Greater Houston, DFW, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Waco, Beaumont, and the Rio Grande Valley.

The University of Houston-Victoria, a public university located in the heart of the Coastal Bend region since 1973 in Victoria, Texas, offers courses leading to more than 80 academic programs in the schools of Arts & Sciences; Business Administration; and Education, Health Professions & Human Development. UHV provides face-to-face classes at its Victoria campus, as well as an instructional site in Katy, Texas, and online classes that students can take from anywhere.

Harmony Public Schools is a Texas-born, Texas-wide public charter school system with campuses serving PreK-Grade 12 students in 23 cities across the state, including Greater Houston, DFW, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Waco, Lubbock, Odessa, Bryan, Beaumont, and the Rio Grande Valley.
