Harris County Eviction Defense Program Update

Harris County Community Services Department (HCCSD) launches an eviction defense program that offers easy access to advisement and counsel to residents experiencing eviction.  The program will aid qualifying tenants in Harris County facing eviction by providing legal advice and the opportunity to meet with an attorney or legal representative at the court where their eviction case is held.

Program vendors, Neighborhood Defender Services and Lone Star Legal Aid, will begin formally accepting applications April 10th. HCCSD will announce when the program is fully underway.

Qualifying residents include households with income at or below 300% of the current Federal Poverty Guideline based on the most recently published poverty guidelines or 65% of the Area Median Income (AMI) data for Harris County based on household size. Those who qualify can learn more about the program and access contact information at csd.harriscountytx.gov/pages/evictiondefenseprogram.aspx.
