Lone Star Flight Museum Offers Spring Break Programs and Events in Houston: Get Into Airplane Mode March 12 to March 20

The Lone Star Flight Museum invites families, students, and community members to attend Spring Break Airplane Mode programs and events. All experiences are included in the general admission ticket and are FREE for members. Dates, times, and activities are subject to change.

On Display: Fly Girls of World War II

Experience the inspirational stories of the American women known to history as WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots).

Now Enrolling: Spring Break Scout Merit Badges

Aviation, Electronics, Engineering, Weather, and American Heritage Merit Badges are available during spring break!

UPCOMING PROGRAMMING AND EVENTS

Saturday, March 12 – The Force is Strong with This Day + Member Appreciation Day!

Characters from a galaxy far, far away will be onsite along with demonstrations on the aircraft that inspired the star-traveling spaceships in the Star Wars universe. All visitors dressed in character get $2 off! No weapons, toy weapons, or weapon props.

Hangar Talks and activities highlighting the visiting Planes of the Month – Hurricane and Spitfire. See what makes these Warbirds so iconic, and their impact on the infamous Battle of Britain.

Monday, March 14 – Mechanic Monday

See what goes into preserving and flying the aircraft. Meet mechanics, then test your skills while working on a B-25 aircraft jack, propeller, and other tools!

Celebrate Ellington Field with unique displays from the LSFM neighbors! Plus, little pilot crafts, pilot experiences, and other fun for the whole family!

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – First Responder Badges crafts for kids

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Pilot Experience in Mooney Hangar

11 a.m. – Women Airforce Service Pilots: Houston Connection – Discuss Houston’s own WASP Radio Operator, Celeste Graves with a presentation by pilot and personal friend, Vickie Croston.

Sunday, March 20 – Plane Amazing

The fun’s not over yet! Flight Simulators, Hangar Talks, and aviation crafts bring Spring Break in for landing.

These programs and events, along with more than two dozen aircraft, flight simulators, the Flight Academy exhibit, The Heritage Gallery, and the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame are all included with a general admission ticket, and free for museum members.
