A Fort Bend County man is in jail after being charged with murdering his mother.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported homicide Sunday morning in the 2500 block of FM 360 in Rosenberg. There, they discovered Jeanette Owens McMayon, 81, had died of an assault that occurred in her home.
Deputies investigated, interviewed witnesses, and conducted a search at the home. They arrested and charged her son, Kenneth Ray McMayon, 50, with murder.
McMayon is in custody at the Fort Bend County Jail. Bond has been set at $300,000.
Deputies said the case remains active and added that this case comes on the eve of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is October.
“One in four women will face physical or emotional abuse in their lifetime,” Sheriff Eric Fagan said. “We must hold abusers accountable for their heinous actions, and speak up when we see something.”
