Julia Arcuri, a teacher at Davidson Elementary, has been selected as a finalist for the Region 4 teacher of the year award.

Being selected a finalist is just one honor Arcuri has received this year. Earlier this year, she was named Katy Independent School District teacher of the year.

Arcuri said she has been hooked on loving and teaching children since she was 13 years old.

“I truly believe that such passion has helped me throughout my educational career,” Arcuri said in a news release. “Even though I have taught both high school and elementary students, I believe it is crucial to start reaching out to learners early in their lives. My goal has always been to get children out of their seats and on their feet and most importantly to make them feel comfortable and loved.”

Arcuri, who has a 26-year career in education, focuses on helping each student feel successful and important. She has taught third and fourth-grade students, with a continued focus on her students’ well-being and health, along with coaching students to strive for success.

She does this by integrating a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies to differentiate learning for all students. She works to maintain a positive relationship with them and their parents.

Arcuri served as a Katy Virtual Academy teacher during the pandemic. She holds an English degree and in enjoys reading and taking advantage of continued learning opportunities in her spare time.

Arcuri is one of four finalists for the award. The award ceremony is August 4 at the Hilton Americas Houston hotel.
