Tompkins, Taylor, and Katy Continue Playoff Quest This Week

Christmas time is here, the song says, and so is the regional round of the Texas high school football playoffs. Three Katy-area teams—Tompkins, Taylor, and Katy—will play, hoping to advance to their respective quarterfinal rounds.

Two games are set for Thursday, and the third is set for Saturday, to accommodate the Christmas holiday. The games will all be broadcast on texanlive.com.

Here’s an overview of the upcoming matchups.

North Shore Mustangs vs. Tompkins Falcons

The Mustangs face the Falcons at 12 p.m. Thursday at Legacy Stadium in a Class 6A, Division I playoff game.

North Shore, 12-0, last week defeated Dawson 38-7. Tompkins, 10-0, defeated Cy-Fair, 51-28.

The North-Shore Tompkins winner will play the Ridge Point-Atascocita winner.

Taylor Mustangs vs. Clear Falls Knights

The Mustangs face the Knights at 12 p.m. Thursday at Challenger Stadium in Webster in a Class 6A, Division II playoff game.

Taylor, 9-2, last week defeated Heights, 28-13. Clear Falls, 7-3, defeated Beaumont West Brook, 53-36.

The Taylor-Clear Falls winner will play the Katy-Shadow Creek winner.

Katy Tigers vs. Shadow Creek Sharks

The Tigers face the Sharks at 1 p.m. Saturday at Freedom Field in Alvin in a Class 6A, Division II playoff game.

Katy, 9-1, last week defeated Lamar, 60-7. Shadow Creek, 6-3, defeated King, 42-28.

The Katy-Shadow Creek winner will play the Taylor-Clear Falls winner.
