Katy ISD Kicks Off Promise to Read 2020

Promise to Read, turns 25 this year with an innovative twist- the Katy ISD tradition that brings business and community partners into classrooms to read books to students is now completely digital, making it accessible to every Katy ISD elementary campus. “Promise to Read 2020 transforms a beloved 25-year Katy ISD tradition into a more dynamic, far-reaching event available to every Katy ISD elementary classroom.  The online model allows both in-person and at home KVA program students to benefit. We are thrilled with the results, “said Janet Theis, Katy ISD Executive Director of Community Partnerships.

Over 30 videos were recorded and are available to watch throughout the month of November to celebrate the Promise To Read campaign at https://tinyurl.com/KatyISDPromiseToRead2020. This year all books were handpicked by Katy ISD librarians and include options for Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 5, a great selection of Texas 2×2 and Bluebonnet books as well as Spanish language options. Katy ISD students, teachers and community are encouraged to share the fun by sending notes of thanks to readers using the hashtag #PromiseToRead2020.
