December Youth Activities At Cinco Ranch Branch Library  

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library presents a variety of free children’s programs — Mother Goose Time, Toddler Time, Story Time, Pajama Night Story Time, Kinder Korner, and After-School Breaks — every month. These programs are free and open to the public. Because of the holidays, the library will have an abbreviated schedule of children’s programs this month. The schedule for December is as follows:

Mother Goose Time — Tuesdays at 10:15 am — provides caregiver/infant multisensory circle-time activities — including simple sign language, folksongs and lullabies, and finger plays– that are especially designed to stimulate babies’ social, emotional, and physical development through rhythm and music. Mother Goose Time is intended for infants from age 1 month to 12 months. Mother Goose Time will take place on December 3, 10, and 17 ONLY.

Toddler Time – Wednesdays at 10:15 am, and Thursdays at 10:15 am and 11:30 am – is a structured program of caregiver/child activities, stories and songs for older babies, from 12 to 36 months of age. Program dates are December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19 ONLY.

Stories & Play – Tuesdays at 2:00 pm – for children from 1 to 3 years of age. Children will be treated to a story and then have open play time. Stories & Play will take place on December 3, 10, and 17 ONLY.

Pre-school children, 3 to 6 years of age, will enjoy Preschool Story Time, where they hear stories, watch movies, and participate in age-appropriate craft activities, beginning at 11:30 am each Wednesday. Program dates are December 4, 11, and 18 ONLY.

Pajama Night Story Time – Tuesdays at 7:00 pm — gives families an evening option for the activities presented during the daytime.  Program dates are December 3, 10, and 17 ONLY.

Family Story Time takes place on the 1st Saturday of the month, December 7, beginning at 10:15 am. Families with children of all ages are invited to attend.

Kinder Korner –  a time for kindergartners to enjoy stories, movies, crafts and other activities – takes place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 4:30 pm. Kinder Korner will take place on December 11 ONLY.

The After-School Breaks – crafts, movies, stories, and more for school-aged children entering grades 1 through 3 – begin at 4:30 pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Program dates are December 4 and 18. 

SPECIAL FAMILY PROGRAMS

Holiday Open House” – Saturday, December 14, 2:00 pm, Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages will be treated to an animated family film starring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and the whole Jim Henson crew. Academy-Award winner Michael Caine stars as the stingy miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who is about to get his holiday goose cooked in fun fashion by the famous puppet troupe characters in this fun-filled, musical event, based on a classic Charles Dickens tale. This movie is rated G.

Family Movie Day” – Friday, December 20, 1:30 pm, Meeting Room. Today’s feature is a family comedy starring Will Ferrell as Buddy, an orphaned baby who stows away in Santa’s sack and ends up at the North Pole. As he grows up, Buddy’s ungainly size inadvertently wreaks havoc on the elf community, so Santa allows him to go to New York City to search for his true identity. This movie is rated PG.

Family Movie Day” – Monday, December 23, 1:30 pm, Meeting Room. Based on Seuss’ beloved holiday classic, this animated family comedy tells the story of a cynical grump who goes on a mission to steal Christmas, only to have his heart changed by a young girl’s generous holiday spirit. This movie is rated PG.

Hour of Code: Star Wars – Building A Galaxy with Code” – Thursday, December 26, 7:00 pm, Computer Lab. This activity is for students grades 4-8. Registration is required.

Family Movie Day” – Monday, December 30, 1:30 pm, Meeting Room. Released in 2019, this family-friendly movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu, the iconic face of the global Pokémon phenomenon. In the first-ever live-action Pokémon adventure, ace detective Harry Goodman mysteriously goes missing. His partner, Detective Pikachu, joins forces with Goodman’s son, Tim, on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Along the way, they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could threaten the whole Pokémon universe. This movie is rated PG.

Crafts & Noon New Year’s Toast” – Tuesday, December 31, 11:00 am- 1:00 pm, Meeting Room. Families with children of all ages will enjoy festive crafts while listening to music, playing games, and counting down to 12:00 noon (instead of midnight!). Refreshments, including cookies and juice, will be on hand for this New Year’s celebration.
