The high school football playoffs begin Thursday, and feature a blend of new and familiar faces.

Paetow is making its first ever playoff appearance in only its second season of varsity football. Meanwhile, Mayde Creek returns to the playoffs for the first time since 1997. The Rams are the first of the five Katy-area teams to kick off the playoffs, as they’ll face Fort Bend Bush Thursday night.

The Tompkins Falcons can relate to Paetow’s and Mayde Creek’s breakout seasons. Last year, the Falcons made the playoffs for the first time in Tompkins school history. The Falcons return to the playoffs this year and, like their Katy-area counterparts, have high hopes for post-season success.
