Katy Bar Association Monthly Meeting

Area attorneys are invited to the Tuesday, September 26, 2017 lunch meeting of the Katy Bar Association at 11:30 A.M. at Hasta La Pasta Restaurant 1450 Grand Parkway, Katy, TX. 77494.

The guest speaker is Jim Lowe, Vice President Strategic Alliances. His topic is Top Ten Mistakes to Avoid in eDiscovery -electronic discovery- , research and case development.

Discovery is the process of gathering of information during litigation, and electronic discovery has evolved significantly. The cost has mushroomed, and is passed on to clients.

He will cover electronic discovery- eDiscovery, avoiding the biggest mistakes, fulfilling client needs, tips to provide responsive documents without involving an eDiscovery provider, controlling the process that eDiscovery providers use if a provider is needed, modifying the work flow in the eDiscovery process, all resulting in efficiencies and cost containment.

He has managed over 4300 eDiscovery matters, and has started 21 companies in the last 35 years.

Mr. Lowe is a national speaker on personal networking, legal technology, and eDiscovery strategy, bringing a realistic, candid voice to managing large scale litigation matters, mergers and acquisitions, and federal investigations.

His background includes, Vice President, Strategic Alliances, Driven, Inc. – a global provider in the litigation eDiscovery and Governance technology space. Prior to Driven, Inc., he founded and held the position of Chief Marketing Officer and President  of  SysInformation for 10 years growing the company to 1600 employees and over 3000 contract employees creating and providing technology for eDiscovery in the litigation marketplace.

He has held senior management and executive roles at companies such as Enron, Cable& Wireless, Shabang!com, and NorthPoint Communications, having started 21 companies during his career, involved in taking a number of companies public,  Selling Executive for 1999 by Selling Magazine, executive producer of the nationally syndicated radio show – the Online Shopping Report.

A long time resident of Houston, Texas, he has served with a number of non-profit organizations in the Houston area, including The American Association for Lost Children, Crime Stoppers, The Exchange Club, and supporting veteran soldiers.
