Katy Independent School District Places Taylor High School Football Coach on Administrative Leave

The Katy independent School District has placed Taylor High School football coach Trey Herrmann on administrative leave until further notice.

Joe Sheffy, an assistant coach at Taylor, will serve as head coach this season.

“Sheffy is a certified, highly experienced individual who is well versed on the needs of the team,” a statement from the district said.

In the statement, released by the district this morning, the district said the leave is unrelated to Herrmann’s role with students. The district said additional information on Herrmann’s situation cannot be provided because it is a personnel matter.

Parents and others associated with the football team were notified of the district’s move yesterday.

“Katy ISD is committed to its students and will do everything necessary to ensure their continued success during this period,” the statement said.

Taylor’s next football game is 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Fort Bend Austin at Rhodes Stadium. The Mustangs lost their season opener against Magnolia last week.
