‘When Ending a Golden Age Was Good’ passes down Christian values

Anthony Grant’s book embodies lessons, opens kids up to faithful Bible scriptures

Is Christianity dying? According to some major newspapers, it is. In today’s generation, there are less and less people attending Christian churches. And to add to the reclining of the religion, some people who preach the word of God do not practice it. Author Anthony Grant wrote “When Ending a Golden Age Was Good” (published by WestBow Press) to pass his faith in Christ and his Christian values. He also encourages the parents to teach their children how to identify evil in the world and stand up against it.

“With a current society that wants to blur the differences between good and evil, I strove to create a historical narrative in 8th Century Europe that depicts the struggle of good versus evil but also ties these stories to today’s spiritual battles that our children will certainly face. It embodies these evils in a dragon and other creatures but points to Christ as whom we must rely on to overcome these spiritual and very real enemies of the church, our faith, and our nation,” Grant describes his book.

The book may be fictional but it offers Christian counters to the many narratives that are hostile to God’s word in today’s media, education, television and other social influences on children.

“In order to hate evil, we must at first identify it as evil. In order to cling to good, we must also identify it. We as parents should raise children that can do both with courage that comes from Christ, Jesus,” Grant concludes.

About the Author

Anthony Grant has spent over two decades organizing and leading various children’s ministries including state-side mission trips; summer “VBS” camps; leading small boy’s groups akin to scouts; heading up Sunday school as superintendent; and earning a certificate in Congregational Assistance from Martin Luther College through their Capstone course. As a father of five, and someone who cares deeply for those children entrusted to his care, he was inspired to write these tales of faith in Christ Jesus to help children and their parents have something safe and inspiring to read to rekindle hope during these dark times. He and his family have lived in both Midwestern cities and quaint towns and pray this will touch the hearts and minds of children from every background and nation.
