Young Adult Book Club, Advisory Council & Robotics For Teens At Cinco Ranch Branch Library  

Fort Bend County Libraries is launching new programs specifically designed for high school-aged teens in grades 9 through 12. The programs provide fun and challenging opportunities for these young adults, who are also encouraged to become active participants in designing and orchestrating new activities for teens in the library system.

In September, the Cinco Ranch Branch Library will present the following programs for the Young Adult community.

  • YA Program: Small Food Pillows – Tuesday, September 11, 4:00-5:00 p.m., Conference Classroom. Teens in grades 9-12 will have fun with the latest fad – making small food pillows and enjoying sweet treats to eat!
  • Young Adult Book Club – Wednesday, September 12, 4:00-5:00 p.m., Conference Classroom. Teen readers in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to meet with others who share the same love for great books, and have a lively discussion on the reasons a book or its characters were liked or disliked. Those attending the book-club meeting in September are invited to talk about I’ll Meet You There, written by Heather Demetrios.
  • YA Program: Coding, Robotics, & Electronics Workshops by EKids Hub– Saturday, September 15; Meeting Room. Teens in grades 8 and above will have an opportunity to join Andy Raman from EKids Hub in exploring the technological world of coding, robotics, and electronics during these two workshops:

o   10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon – “Wearable Fashion Technology” and “Game Design and Mobile Apps”

o   1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. – “Arduino Robotics” and “Drone Technology”

  • Young Adult Advisory Council – Wednesday, September 19, 4:00-5:00 p.m., Conference Classroom. At this monthly meeting, teens in grades 9-12 are invited to express ideas, organize upcoming activities, and suggest new programs and books that would be of interest to young adults at the library. Earn volunteer/service hours and meet new friends while helping to shape the future of library services for teens!
