Author shares how she was brought up believing her heart condition was mental illness

Sheila M. Amari announces release of her memoir, ‘Bipolar Dad. Borderline Husband’

Author Sheila M. Amari’s parents told her that her heart problem was nothing but “nerves,” and she grew up believing she was mentally ill. But her faith in God helped her to uncover the truth. At 47, her parents told her the facts behind her condition. She shares her journey to recovery and everything that happened between in “Bipolar Dad. Borderline Husband” (published by LifeRich Publishing).

In the book, Amari details the physical abuse and emotional manipulation she suffered at the hands of her father – revealing the cognitive dissonance she faced believing her physical ailments were nothing but a product of her mind. The abuse continued after marriage, as the author chronicles her husband’s violence against her.

Amari explains, “This book was written to awaken people who have personality and behavioral problems, to inspire them to become aware of what their relationship means to their family.

Despite the multitude of challenges Amari faced, her book encourages readers and members of dysfunctional families “to work toward peace and respect.”
