Lilly O. Iwuchukwu’s scientific research to find fire retardant fabric

‘Evaluation of Commercially Available Flame Retardants for Production of Carbon Fabric’ released

ARLINGTON, Texas – A home structured fire is reported every 86 seconds in the United States according to the National Fire Protection Association. In addition, NFPA reports that heating equipments are one of the common causes of house fires. Furniture, curtains, laundry and clothes can easily catch fire. Furthermore, NFPA states in their website that one quarter of home fire deaths were caused by fires that started in the bedroom.

To prevent unnecessary death from fire, author Lilly O. Iwuchukwu B.S., M.Sc. wrote “Evaluation of Commercially Available Flame Retardants for Production of Carbon Fabric” (published by Xlibris). The book stemmed from a research that was conducted by her at the Texas Woman’s University, in the department of Textile Science and clothing and Technology.

Iwuchukwu describes her book as a scientific, life-saving research, to finding flame retardant chemical for the treatment of fine fabrics such as cotton, flax, linen, and much more, such as silk fabrics, into flame retardant fabric for making safe children’s and geriatric night wears and much more.

One of the purposes of the book is to call attention for more research, research funding in the textile industry; in education and knowledge of flame retardant chemicals, hiring of educators. Restoration of departments of textile technology and research in most schools which is almost nonexistent in universities today. Professors have been marginalized by such cuts, and are forced to early retirements. Humanity is still struggling for the need of safe discovery of flame retardants; flame retardant material to be used in active wears, in home furnishings, and an established standard of assessments and measurements that will be the research for the future, and evolving.

The book offers hope, opportunity, multitude of job opportunities, perpetual studies and research,  offers great outlook to lifestyles and surely paves an ideal way to a democratic freedom of safety  living.
