Homeowners with a homestead exemption should expect to soon receive a postcard from the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) in their mailbox verifying they have an exemption on their property. Protest Deadline Is May 17 For Property In Harris County

Harris County property owners who believe there is an error in the market value set by the appraisal district have until Monday, May 17 to protest the value of their property. While the usual protest deadline is May 15, if that day falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is postponed to the next business day. Harris County Appraisal District Reports Results of Property Value Study

The Harris County Appraisal District has received the results of the Texas Comptroller’s 2019 Property Value Study, which provides an unbiased review of the district’s appraisal performance. “The study is the only truly independent measurement of how accurate and fair HCAD’s work is, and I’m pleased to report that the appraisal district passed with very good marks,” said Roland Altinger, chief appraiser.   The study found that overall, the district achieved a median level of […]

HCAD Offers Virtual Business Personal Property Rendition Help

The Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) has begun the process of mailing personal property rendition forms to businesses known to have been operating in Harris County during 2020. Homeowners Have Payment Options For Property Taxes On Appreciating Home Values

Texas homeowners may postpone paying the currently delinquent property taxes due on the appreciating value of their homes by taking advantage of a payment option called “residence homestead tax deferral” and filing a tax deferral affidavit at the Harris County Appraisal District.
