6:30 pm: Fulshear Book Clubs Announce September Reading Selections

Share your love of reading with other book lovers at one of the book clubs that meet monthly at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library,

The next meeting of the Day Readers Book Club will take place on Monday, September 12, beginning at 12:00 noon, in the Meeting Room of the library. The book to be discussed is Old Heart, written by Peter Ferry. Call the library to check availability of print copies. This book club meets on the second Monday of every month.

The Fulshear Night Readers Guild will meet on Monday, September 26, beginning at 6:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library. The book to be discussed is Miracle Creek, written by Angie Kim. This title is available in print and digitally as an ebook on OverDrive and as an e-audiobook on Hoopla; call the library to check availability of additional print copies. This book club meets on the last Monday of every month.

7:30 am: John Paul Landing Park & Environmental Education Center Birding Bus Trip: Fall Migrants on the Coast

Join us as we head to the coast in search of fall migrant birds. Exact destination and lunch plans TBD. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis. Transportation is provided for individuals 50 and older through Harris County Precinct 4. The bus will pick up and drop off participants at the Environmental Education Center. 12:00 pm: Needlecrafters Invited To Nifty Needlers Club At Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library

Needlework enthusiasts are invited to a monthly “Nifty Needlers” club at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library on Friday, October 21, between 12:00 noon and 1:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear. Share tips, get ideas and inspiration, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow needlecrafters!

People of all experience levels who enjoy any type of crocheting, knitting, or sewing are invited to attend to get other needlecrafters’ perspectives, critiques, and suggestions.

Those attending should bring their own yarn, strings, and needles to start or finish a project, while chatting, networking, and enjoying the company of fellow needlecrafters.

Samples of the library’s instructional books, magazines, and websites on various crafts will be available.

Costumes, a concert, and candy! Come to Glazier to enjoy a Halloween potluck. Please bring a dish to share. Sign up in advance at the front desk for the dish you wish to bring. The potluck will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dress to impress in your Halloween best. Prizes will be given to the costume contest winners. Following the potluck, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., will be a performance by Dickie Pride. Dickie is an accomplished entertainer, multi-talented vocalist, and an unforgettable front man. Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library, 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear, presents free children’s programs every month.

Family Story Time takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 10:30 to 11:00 am, in the Meeting Room of the library. Families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy.

Each week has a different theme. The schedule for November is as follows:

  • November 1 and 2 – Forest Friends
  • November 8 and 9 – Monkeys
  • November 15 and 16 – Music & Dance
  • November 22 and 23 – Family
  • November 29 and 30 -- Dinosaurs

The After-School Break -- crafts, stories, and more for school-aged children in grades 1 through 5 – will take place on Thursday, November 17, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, in the Meeting Room. The activity will be “Collaborative Art Day.” Students will work together as a group to create a masterpiece to be displayed in the library.

Materials for these programs are generously made possible by the Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library.
