6:30 pm: Fulshear Book Clubs Announce September Reading Selections6:30 pm: Fulshear Book Clubs Announce September Reading Selections – Share your love of reading with other book lovers at one of the book clubs that meet monthly at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library, The next meeting of the Day Readers Book Club will take place on Monday, September 12, beginning at 12:00 noon, in the Meeting Room of the library. The book to be discussed is Old Heart, written by Peter Ferry. Call the library to check availability of print copies. This book club meets on the second Monday of every month. 10:30 am: Get Ready For The Holidays At Cinco Ranch Branch Library Programs10:30 am: Get Ready For The Holidays At Cinco Ranch Branch Library Programs – “Professional Holiday Portraits on a Budget” will take place on Saturday, October 1, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon, in the Meeting Room of the library. Learn how to take professional-looking holiday portraits with lighting equipment commonly found around one’s house or garage. Hands-on demonstrations will be provided during the presentation, using both a digital SLR camera and an iPhone camera. This class is presented by professional photographer Bryan Bankston, who specializes in creative-lighting techniques. “Harvest-Themed Watercolor Greeting Cards” will take place on Friday, October 7, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, in the Conference Room of the library. Get tips on how to make beautiful, personalized greeting cards with watercolor paint. Materials for this class are provided courtesy of the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. Reservations are required. The programs are free and open to the public. Those attending should bring their own yarn, strings, and needles to start or finish a project, while chatting, networking, and enjoying the company of fellow needlecrafters. Families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy. Each week has a different theme. The schedule for November is as follows:
The After-School Break -- crafts, stories, and more for school-aged children in grades 1 through 5 – will take place on Thursday, November 17, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, in the Meeting Room. The activity will be “Collaborative Art Day.” Students will work together as a group to create a masterpiece to be displayed in the library. Materials for these programs are generously made possible by the Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library. These programs are free and open to the public.
