6:30 pm: Fulshear Book Clubs Announce August Reading Selections

Share your love of reading with other book lovers at one of the book clubs that meet monthly at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library.

 

The next meeting of the Day Readers Book Club will take place on Monday, August 8, beginning at 12:00 noon, in the Meeting Room of the library. The book to be discussed is Celeste Ng’s novel, Little Fires Everywhere. This title is available in print, audio, and digitally as an ebook and e-audiobook on OverDrive; call the library to check availability of additional print copies. This book club meets on the second Monday of every month.

 

The Fulshear Night Readers Guild will meet on Monday, August 29, beginning at 6:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library. The book to be discussed is The Awakening: A Solitary Soul, written by Kate Chopin. This title is available in print, audio, and digitally as an e-audiobook and ebook on OverDrive and as an e-audiobook on Hoopla; call the library to check availability of additional print copies. This book club meets on the lasts Monday of every month.

10:30 am: Children’s Programs At Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library Resume Fall Schedule After Break

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library, 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear, will have an abbreviated schedule of free children’s programs in August. The fall schedule will start mid-August; no programs will take place during the first two weeks of the month.

Starting the week of August 16, Family Story Time will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning at 10:30 am, in the Meeting Room of the library. Families with children of all ages will enjoy stories, songs, and action rhymes. Each week has a different theme. The themes for the month are as follow:

August 16 and 17 – School Rules

August 23 and 24 – Staff Favorites

August 30 and 31 -- Sheep

Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy.

 Materials for these programs are made possible by the Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales and annual membership dues help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the library.

This title is available in print and digitally as an ebook on OverDrive and as an e-audiobook on Hoopla; call the library to check availability of additional print copies. This book club meets on the last Monday of every month.

12:00 pm: Needlecrafters Invited To Nifty Needlers Club At Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library

Needlework enthusiasts are invited to a monthly “Nifty Needlers” club at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library on Friday, September 16, between 12:00 noon and 1:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear. Share tips, get ideas and inspiration, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow needlecrafters!

People of all experience levels who enjoy any type of crocheting, knitting, or sewing are invited to attend to get other needlecrafters’ perspectives, critiques, and suggestions.

Those attending should bring their own yarn, strings, and needles to start or finish a project, while chatting, networking, and enjoying the company of fellow needlecrafters.

Samples of the library’s instructional books, magazines, and websites on various crafts will be available.

The program, which meets on the 3rd Friday of every month, is free and open to the public. 10:30 am: Friends Of Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library Host Fall Book Sale

The Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library will host a Fall Book Sale on Saturday, September 17, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon, in the Annex next door to the library, which is located at 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear.

People who love books, people who love bargains, and people who need to get rid of some spare change will find a lot in common at the book sale, where they will discover adult and children’s books, DVDs, and CDs, all at prices that are hard to beat. Prices range from 10¢ for children’s books and 50¢ for adult paperback books up to $2.00 for select hardback books.

The Friends of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library organization is instrumental in funding library programs such as the children’s Summer Reading Club. Proceeds from the book sale and annual membership dues also help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library.
