Bo’s Place, a non-profit, free-of-charge bereavement center, is expanding its free grief support services westward with a new location in Katy, offering families in Katy and the surrounding communities a closer place to turn when they are grieving the death of a loved one.
The new Bo’s Place Katy will operate within shared space at the recently developed Amazing Place West campus, near I-10 and Fry Road. The timing is especially meaningful, coming just ahead of National Grief Awareness Day on August 30, a nationwide observance dedicated to breaking the silence around loss and encouraging open conversations about grief.
For more than three decades, Bo’s Place has provided a safe space where children, families, and adults can share their stories, express their feelings, and connect with others walking a similar path. Bo’s Place offers the only ongoing grief support programs in the greater Houston area designed specifically for grieving children and their families, alongside support groups for adults.
The Katy expansion means west Houston families will no longer need to make the drive into central Houston to access these services. Bo’s Place Katy will offer family grief support groups for families with children ages 5 to 18 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or another person significant to their family. Bo’s Place offers additional grief resources for adults, including an Adult and Young Adult Group and Pregnancy Loss Group, all of which are offered online.
As National Grief Awareness Day approaches, Bo’s Place hopes the new Katy location will serve as a reminder to the community that no one should ever have to grieve alone – and that help is now closer to home for families across Katy and the surrounding area.
