Cornyn, TPPF to Unveil Study on Green New Deal’s Impact on Texas in Houston Tomorrow

TPPF’s Life:Powered Study Has Identified the Proposed Policy’s Cost to Texas Families, Energy Industry

HOUSTON—U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) will be at Sunbelt Steel tomorrow to announce the results of a study on the Green New Deal’s impact on Texas.  The study, called “The Cost of the Green New Deal to Texas”, was conducted by Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Life:Powered and will address the dramatic costs of the Green New Deal to Houston families and local industry.

The Green New Deal, introduced earlier this year by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) to combat climate change, has been criticized for its heavy environmental regulations and government handouts.

To ensure a reliable, affordable, and environmentally sound energy supply, Sen. Cornyn has introduced the Launching Energy Advancement and Development through Innovations for Natural Gas (LEADING) Act to establish a program for the research and development of carbon capture technology for natural gas.  Earlier this summer, it passed the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

Following a roundtable announcing the study’s results, Sen. Cornyn will tour Sunbelt Steel’s manufacturing operations and hold a joint press conference on the dangers of the Green New Deal.
