KATY, TX [September 4, 2026] – Katy ISD continues trailblazing academic achievement for large school districts, with 330 students earning the AP Capstone Diploma™ and 27 students earning the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™ during the 2025 – 2026 school year.
“We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our AP Capstone students,” Director of Advanced Academics Danielle Sanchez said. “With the guidance of their dedicated teachers, these students embraced challenging coursework and pursued meaningful research aligned with their interests. The skills they developed through this program will serve them well in college, their careers and beyond.”

About the AP Capstone Diploma
To earn the AP Capstone Diploma, students must earn scores of three or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research as well as four additional AP Exams of their choosing. The distinction is included on AP score reports sent to colleges after the award is conferred.
AP Capstone is a College Board diploma program built around two yearlong courses, AP Seminar and AP Research. The program combines student-centered learning with performance-based assessments and develops skills in critical thinking, academic research, collaboration, presentation and time management to prepare students for college and career success.
