Katy, TX — October 23, 2025 — The Katy News recently captured a moving act of kindness and community spirit as Cornerstone Building Brands, North America’s leading manufacturer of exterior building products, partnered with the Roc Solid Foundation to surprise 3-year-old Andi Dalton with a custom backyard playset.
Andi, a joyful Katy toddler courageously undergoing treatment for Rhabdomyosarcoma, has been receiving chemotherapy and is expected to complete her treatment at the end of December. She was all smiles as 16 Cornerstone Building Brands employees from the Houston production facility transformed her backyard into a place of play, imagination, and hope. The employees also chipped in together to buy gifts for Andi, adding even more joy to the day.
Her parents, Matthew and Heather Dalton, described how life changed after Andi’s diagnosis in February 2025.
“That first overnight hospital stay turned into three weeks,” Matthew recalled. “We’ve had to completely rearrange our lives, our work schedules, and our routines, to make sure one of us is always by Andi’s side. Texas Children’s Hospital connected us with several partner organizations that offered incredible support and truly made a difference. They introduced us to Cornerstone Building Brands’ Connecting Communities’ program and other organizations that provided snacks, 
books, and activities that helped keep Andi’s spirits up during her stay. There’s so much help out there for families going through similar challenges ; you just have to reach out.”
In addition to building the playset, the day was filled with laughter and heartfelt encouragement from the Cornerstone team creating memories the family will cherish forever.
This effort is part of Cornerstone Building Brands’ national partnership with Roc Solid Foundation, marking the largest multi-build initiative in the foundation’s 16-year history. Together, they’re bringing playsets and moments of hope to 16 families across 15 communities nationwide, that began during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September.
Connecting Communities Through Service
The project reflects the heart of Cornerstone Building Brands’ Connecting Communities program; an initiative that empowers employees to strengthen the places where they live and work through volunteerism, charitable giving, and local partnerships. Since its launch in 2022, the program has generated more than 4,000 volunteer hours, engaged over 1,600 team members, and supported more than 150 organizations with over $262,000 in charitable contributions.
Diego Rodriguez, Plan Manager at Cornerstone Building Brands, shared, “We’re proud to build more than structures — we build connections, hope, and resilience. This project in Katy is our first local build, and it’s incredibly special to us.”

As Andi explored her new playset, the day became a beautiful reminder of how compassion and community can bring light even in the most difficult times. For Andi, her new backyard isn’t just a playground — it’s a symbol of strength, hope, and love.
