KATY, TX [July 22, 2025] – Recognizing excellence both on and off the field, Katy ISD Athletics recently named its 2024–25 Athletes of the Year: Adam Carter of Katy High School (KHS), Anaya Sriniketh of Tompkins High School (OTHS) and Janey Campbell of Seven Lakes High School (SLHS)—wrapping up another remarkable year of student athletic achievement.
“Congratulations to our three Katy ISD Athletes of the Year! Their talent, leadership and dedication have set the standard for excellence in athletics and academics,” said Executive Director of Athletics for Katy ISD, Lance Carter. “We celebrate their incredible accomplishments and the positive impact they’ve made on their teams, campuses and in Katy ISD.”
Katy ISD Male Athlete of the Year
Adam Carter – Katy High School, Football & Track and Field
Adam was a standout football and track and field athlete for four years at KHS, competing in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) state meet for the past two years and serving as a starter for the Katy Tiger football team for three years.
During his high school career, he medaled at the state meet three times, earning one gold medal and two silver medals. He holds the KHS, District 19-6A and 6A Region 3 shot put records, the KHS discus record, as well as breaking the record for the longest punt in school history at 78 yards. As a senior, Adam was the district’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) in football and was named to the All-Greater Houston area team. He was also the district champion in shot put and discus, the area champion in shot put, the regional champion in both shot put and discus, and the state champion in shot put. Additionally, he earned the title of MVP for the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Super Elite Track and Field Team.
Adam will continue his athletic career at Texas State University.
Katy ISD Female Athlete(s) of the Year
Ananya Sriniketh – Tompkins High School, Tennis
Ananya was a standout member of the OTHS Tennis Team, earning a varsity letter for four consecutive years.
As a student-athlete, she was a four-time district champion in singles tennis. She was a state finalist as a sophomore, earning a silver medal, and would go on to win the state championship in singles tennis as a senior after battling for seven hours on the court.
Sriniketh was also named to the THSCA Super Elite Team for Team Tennis.
During her time at OTHS, she was named to the Academic All-District and All-State lists.
Ananya will continue her athletic career at Claremont McKenna College.
Janey Campbell – Seven Lakes High School, Swimming & Track and Field
Janey was a member of the SLHS Swim Team, where she earned a varsity letter for three years. She was also a standout member of the Track & Field Team, competing at the UIL State Track and Field Meet all four years of high school.
During her career, she would be a three-time district champion in the discus and a one-time district champion in the shot put. She was the 2025 Texas Relays Shot Put Champion. She would qualify for the state track meet each year of high school, placed in the top five each year, and capped off her high school career by winning the shot put. Janey was also named to the THSCA Super Elite team for track and field.
Janey will attend the University of Michigan to continue her athletic career.
