Safari Texas Ranch, TX. (April 23, 2024)— High-speed fiber broadband provider Kinetic presented a $1,500 scholarship to one of 200 students participating in the Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) Program at the Annual Investment in Youth Luncheon presented by the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce and The George Foundation on April 10th, 2024.
The partnership between Kinetic and the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) program is a commendable illustration of how businesses can play a significant role in fostering the growth and development of future leaders, particularly in the non-profit sector.
Kinetic’s contribution of a $1,500 scholarship to a deserving student within the YIP program not only underscores the company’s commitment to education and community development but also highlights the importance of supporting young individuals who are poised to make significant impacts in their communities and beyond.
The Kinetic-sponsored scholarship is awarded following a competitive application process, selected by a committee comprising various community leaders. Students in the program are enrolled in either their junior or senior year of high school seeking opportunities to develop as future community leaders. Those students selected for the program are provided a wealth of experiences while they engage in the nonprofit sector within the Fort Bend community.
The YIP program’s focus on leadership through hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector provides students with a unique opportunity to develop critical skills such as project management, teamwork, and problem-solving. Kinetic’s support amplifies this impact, enabling more students to benefit from these experiences.
“Kinetic’s involvement with the YIP program and the Fort Bend community at large is a tremendous example of how corporate entities can effectively engage with and contribute to the localities where they operate,” said Juliette Nesmith, representing the YIP program on behalf of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce. “Such initiatives not only enhance the company’s community relations but also contribute to the social and economic well-being of the area.”
The six-month YIP program is well known for creating leaders of tomorrow through the work they do within their local community. This scholarship is particularly important for students who may face financial challenges, making it easier for them to pursue opportunities by alleviating financial barriers.
“With this scholarship, Kinetic aims to empower and encourage the next generation of STEM leaders in the Fort Bend community,” said Danny Ferguson, Texas Operations president at Kinetic. “By investing in their education and providing opportunities for growth, Kinetic is committed to fostering a brighter future for these young adults and the Fort Bend community.”
