Intense curriculum for high school juniors and seniors emphasizes intercultural understanding and enrichment

The Village School, a pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade private day and boarding school located in Houston, recently released their International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) test results. Recognized in more than 100 countries worldwide, the IBDP is one of the most highly regarded international curricula, well known for its breadth and academic rigor, which nurtures a global outlook and prepares students for success at university and in their working lives. The Village School is one of only 16 private schools in Texas offering The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program.

The Village School’s 2022 results include:

  • 100% pass rate
  • 36-point average score
  • 22% (16 students) with 40+ scores
  • 1 student achieved a perfect score
  • 3 students achieved near-perfect scores

“This year’s IB results are a testament to our students’ hard work and dedication as well as to the teachers who have worked tirelessly to prepare them,” said Bill Delbrugge, Head of School at The Village School. “This year’s exceptional results are even more impressive given the challenges of the pandemic over the past two years. Our students have pushed through, and their results speak for themselves. I am so proud of each one of them!”

The IBDP program challenges students to be knowledgeable, balanced, and open-minded global citizens who are able to cope with an ever-changing world. This year’s results helped students gain admission into their first-choice schools including prestigious schools like Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, MIT, Texas A&M University, and The University of Texas. This year’s results are well above the world average, with 22% of Village IBDP students achieving 40 points or more and one student achieving a perfect score.

“A huge thank you to our talented and dedicated teachers who have supported our students every step of the way helping our IB students achieve these incredible results,” added Delbrugge. “Their support means the world to our students and their families.”

The International Baccalaureate program is an intense curriculum for high school juniors and seniors which emphasizes intercultural understanding and enrichment. The program culminates in six rigorous subject exams and students who successfully complete the program earn advantage for admissions at colleges and universities and receive college credit for their IB classes. Schools must be authorized to teach IB programs and schools like The Village School that are authorized are known as IB World Schools.
