Typhoon Texas Hosts Space Day With Space-Themed Activities Galore, Fireworks Spectacular

Typhoon Texas will host the return of its popular Space Day, a day-long celebration of space on Saturday, July 16 featuring outer space crafts for kids, an astronaut training simulation ride, strolling astronaut characters and more, all capped off by an evening fireworks spectacular.

Gates open to the public at 11 a.m. (season pass holders enjoy early access to the park starting at 10:30 a.m.) with extended hours until 10 p.m., a full day and evening for families to enjoy all the space-themed happenings amidst the waterpark’s high-speed tube and raft slides, free-fall body slides, Texas-sized wave pool, winding lazy river and four-story children’s Gully Washer.

 

Free, space-themed activities include kids outer space crafts, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.; a mock moon landing photo booth printing 4×6 photo magnets, noon – 7 p.m.; an astronaut training simulator ride, noon – 8 p.m.; and outer space trivia at the Wave Pool Stage starting at 4 p.m.

When the sun goes down, Space Day continues as several Typhoon Texas attractions will be bathed in brilliant neon lights leading up to the day’s grand finale fireworks starting at 9 p.m.

Families also will enjoy strolling astronaut characters throughout the day and the high-energy top-40 cover band Hybrid 7 from 6 – 9 p.m.

Typhoon Texas is located at 555 Katy Fort Bend Rd. next to Katy Mills Mall, 1.5 miles west of the Grand Parkway.  Free onsite parking, free tubes and free life jackets are available.
