Cinco Ranch Literary Lunch League To Discuss “Chocolat” Online In December

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library currently offers online book-club meetings through Webex/Zoom so that readers can interact with others in real time and participate from home.

Books can be requested by calling the library, or by placing them on hold in the online catalog. Digital versions of some books are also available for download from FBCL’s eLibrary.

The schedule of book club meetings at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library in December is as follows:

  • Wednesday, December 1, 12:00 noon-1:00 pm – Literary Lunch League Book Club

The book to be discussed is Chocolat, a novel written by Joanne Harris. This title is available in print; call the Cinco Ranch Branch Library to check availability of additional print copies. This book club meets monthly on the 1st Wednesday.

  • Thursday, December 9, 2:00-3:00 pm – “The Butler Did It” Mystery Book Club

The book to be discussed is The Art of Crash Landing, written by Melissa DeCarlo. This title is available in print; call the Cinco Ranch Branch Library to check availability of additional print copies. This book club meets monthly on the 2nd Thursday.

  • Thursday, December 9– Book Talk: Comedian Memoirs (pre-recorded video).

In FBCL’s Book Talk series, library staff give a synopsis of featured books and share their thoughts on it. In this episode, hear about memoirs written by comedians. The books to be discussed include: Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling; Dear Girls: Intimate Tales, Untold Secrets, & Advice for Living Your Best Life, written by Ali Wong; A Very Punchable Face, by Colin Jost; and The Greatest Love Story Ever Told: An Oral History by Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman.  A link to the video will be posted on FBCL’s online calendar on the designated date, and it can be viewed at any time.

  • Tuesday, December 14– Reading Recommendations with SelectReads (pre-recorded video).

The book club meetings are free and open to the public. Registration is required for the book club meetings so that a link to the Webex/Zoom sessions can be emailed to all who register.
