Katy school board trustee Dawn Champagne has been elected to a one-year term on the Texas Association of School Boards Board of Directors, Region 4, Position E.

The board, known as TASB, serves local Texas school boards. The association represents more than 7,999 publicly elected school board members who provide local governance and oversight for more than 5.4 million Texas students. It was established in 1949.

“I look forward to serving Katy ISD in this capacity and working alongside other school board leaders to chart the best future for Texas public schools,” Champagne said.

Champagne was elected to the Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees in 2018 and has been an active volunteer in the district since moving in 2001 to Katy. Most recently, she was president of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and vice president of Project Grad 2018 at Taylor High School. She has served on campus and bond advisory teams, as well as the Katy Council of PTAs.

Champagne has also served as a KEYS mentor since 2015, and was named Volunteer of the Year for McMeans Junior High in 2016 and Taylor High School in 2018.
