Man in Hospital Following Family Violence Disturbance in Fort Bend County

A man is in unknown condition at an area hospital following a shooting incident in Sugar Land.

Deputies responded to a family violence disturbance involving weapons around 9 p.m. Tuesday. The incident occurred in the 15300 block of Griggs Point in Sugar Land.
 
Upon arrival, deputies encountered a suspect who displayed a gun before barricading himself within the home.
 
Deputies said the suspect fired several shots. Meanwhile, the deputies made sure all other family members evacuated the house.
 
The suspect remained barricaded within the house. Deputies and the Fort Bend Regional SWAT team secured the house.
 
Deputies said attempts to communicate with the suspect continued until around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, but failed.
 
The suspect reportedly fired upon deputies before turning the gun upon himself. Meanwhile, officers deployed tear gas into the house.
 
The suspect was taken to an area hospital, where his condition is unknown.
 
Authorities had issued an arrest warrant for the suspect. The charge was for aggravated assault on a public servant. The charge is a first-degree felony with a $500,000 bond.
 
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers continue to investigate.
