Paetow High School football coach BJ Gotte will be recognized as the Houston Texans Coach of the Week for his leadership of the Panthers athletic programs.

Gotte was notified of his recognition during a surprise pre-practice visit Tuesday from students, staff, and the Houston Texans cheerleaders. He was presented with a $2,500 grant for the Paetow High School football program, along with a certificate signed by Texans coach David Culley.

Gotte has led the Paetow football program since it fielded its first varsity team in 2018. That first team went 3-7, but the team has soared to new heights since then. In 2019, the Panthers finished 8-3, and last year the team finished 9-1.

This season, Paetow is 4-0 overall, and 2-0 in District 10-5A. Last week the Panthers defeated Kempner 65-0. The Panthers have a bye week this week, but will return to action against Houston Milby next Thursday at Butler Stadium.

The Texans, now 1-1 after a loss to Cleveland, return to action Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers in a nationally-televised game at NRG Stadium.
