The Katy High School football state titles have long been recognized on the city’s iconic water tower that sits across from City Hall. On Wednesday, the Katy softball program got its due, as the city recognized the Lady Tigers’ two state titles on the tower.

Katy’s most recent softball state title came in 2019, when the Lady Tigers defeated Klein Collins. The Lady Tigers finished that season with a 37-2 record.

Katy won its first state softball title in 2015, defeating Lewisville. Kalum Haack coached both teams.

Earlier this year, the city painted a “’20” on the tower to signify the 2020 state champion football team. The Tigers defeated Cedar Hill in December for that title. The title is the Tigers’ first since 2015 and is the ninth in the history of the program.

The Tigers have the second-most football state titles in the history of the University Interscholastic League, trailing only Aledo, which won its 10th title last season.
