CMS Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Awards OakBend Medical Center with Four-Star Rating

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its updated five-star quality rating system to measure the experiences Medicare beneficiaries have with their health plan and health care system.

Health plans are rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being the highest. These ratings are then published on the Medicare Plan Finder at www.medicare.gov. The overall star rating for hospitals, between 1 and 5 stars, summarizes quality information and measures across 7 areas of quality into a single star rating for each hospital. The 7 measure groups include:

  • Mortality
  • Safety of care**
  • Readmission**
  • Patient experience
  • Effectiveness of care**
  • Timeliness of care**
  • Efficient use of medical imaging

The ** above indicates that OakBend Medical Center improved above national average for Performance Period 2016-2019

OakBend Medical Center achieved 4 stars out of 5 for the first time since Medicare instituted the 5-star rating system for hospitals.

“We are excited to receive this news,” stated Joe Freudenberger, CEO of OakBend Medical Center. “We have worked hard to make sure that our patients are taken care of in a safe, efficient environment.
