Youth Inventa ‘A Free Physics Program’

By Sriharsha Kondapalli

A group of high schoolers have started the Youth in Physics Summer (YiPS) Program, a 4 week educational program that allows students from ages 13-18 to learn physics from physicists and collegiate professors. This course will include topics such as nuclear and theoretical physics: interesting topics that are often left for physics majors to learn.

The YiPS program serves to give students interested in the topics of space and physics some career insight and new knowledge through interactive activity and challenges held throughout the camp. This program was created due to the lack of physics related classes offered to students in 10th grade and below, in which oftentimes were less accessible due to the high expenses. Furthermore, the camp expands on topics that are not taught in high school and allows students to grasp information far past their grade level.

This class will focus on the conceptual portion of physics rather than the math behind it, this will allow students to understand these concepts as long as they are proficient in Algebra 1.

This program is free of cost to all high school students.
