Harmony School of Innovation – Katy Students Invent the COVID-19 ‘Swiss Army Knife’ that Everyone May Be Carrying Soon

A class at Harmony School of Innovation – Katy has created a company and invention to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Sanakit is like a Swiss Army Knife with its multi-functions. The device includes a portable tissue holder, hand sanitizer holder, door grabber, and a mask compartment all in a keychain.

Mrs. Mary Hassan’s Entrepreneurship class was tasked with a Shark Tank-like project of creating their own product and company. The students were required to identify a real-world problem and find a solution for it. The students created a business plan and prototype, pitched their ideas, raised funds, designed a web page and a social media presence for their company.

Mrs. Hassan’s class also invented Diverse is Not a Curse. A company that creates snack boxes based on different countries to help people identify more with their own heritage or allow them to explore someone else’s through food. The goal is not only to provide small pockets of joy during these trying times but to unite the world by encouraging everyone to embrace and appreciate cultural differences.

Both of the companies the students at Harmony School of Innovation-Katy have created are finalists in the Bauer College of Business Think Tank 2021 competition.

Harmony School of Innovation – Katy was recently named an official state School of Character for 2021. Character.org is a national nonprofit based in Washington, D.C. It works with schools, families, workplaces, and communities to educate, inspire, and empower people of all ages to be ethical and compassionate citizens.

Mrs. Mary Hassan, HSI-Katy, Senior Celine Hernandez, and Sophomore Temilola Ogunola are available for Zoom interviews.
