Phat Eatery Hosts Annual Lunar New Year Feast & Lion Dances

Celebrate Year of the Ox with Katy Asian Town’s Acclaimed Malaysian Restaurant

Chef-Owner Alex Au-Yeung is ready to welcome the Year of the Ox with a spectacular Lunar New Year celebration at his award-winning Malaysian restaurant. For the third year in a row, Phat Eatery will treat guests to a special menu to welcome a new year of happiness and prosperity. On Friday, Feb. 12, Saturday, Feb. 13, and Sunday, Feb. 14, Phat Eatery will offer a special six-course tasting feast, featuring Chinese dishes typical of the holiday, served family style. This includes the interactive Yu Sheng, or Prosperity Toss, a traditional Malaysian salad symbolizing abundance in which tablemates toss the dish’s many colorful components with their chopsticks to increase their good fortune for the year. Featured chef specialties include chargrilled, honey-glazed char siu Berkshire pork, snow pea tips with lobster and lamb rendang. Seatings are offered Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. During each Saturday and Sunday seating, a vibrant Lion Dance will be performed by Lee Golden to enhance the culinary experience with a festive musical performance.

The tasting menu is $48 per person, plus tax and gratuity. A kid’s menu will be available for children age 4 to 12 for $18 and includes choice of pineapple fried rice or chicken stir-fried noodles and a build-your-own ice cream sundae. The regular menu will not be available during the celebrations.

Walk-ins welcome. Reservations can be made by email: admin@phateatery.com. A $50 deposit per party is required, with a 48-hour cancellation policy. The restaurant will not accept walk-ins during performances. A $25 dollar deposit is required per person and will be applied toward your final bill. All cancellations/rescheduling requests must be made by Feb 5, 2021. No refunds will be issued for cancellation or party size reductions after Feb 5, 2021. Please note: Masks will be required during lion dance performance and at all times guests are not seated at their tables.
