Katy ISD Names New Principal for Bill and Cindy Haskett Junior High

Dr. David Pazz

As construction continues at Bill and Cindy Haskett Junior High, today Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ken Gregorski appointed Dr. David Paz as the campus’s new principal.  Dr. Paz holds 19 years of experience in public education, all of which took place at Katy ISD, and it includes roles as a classroom teacher, assistant principal and a principal.  For Dr. Paz, Katy ISD has been more than just a great school district for his flourishing career.

“Thirty-four years ago, my family moved to the Houston area and Mayde Creek Junior High was my first school, as a student, in Katy ISD,” said Dr. David David, the new principal of Haskett Junior High.  “Katy ISD is more than just a school district to me, it is my family and I have treasured every memory as a student, an educator and now as a school administrator,” added Dr. Paz.

Dr. Paz began his educational career in August 2001 when he was hired as a fourth-grade teacher at Bear Creek Elementary.  Four years later, in August 2005, he accepted a position as a math teacher at McDonald Junior High.  It was in July 2007 that Dr. Paz was promoted to an administrative role, as assistant principal at McDonald Junior High.  In July 2013 he returned to his childhood junior high school, this time to serve as the school principal and he has held that position until today when he was appointed to his next endeavor at Haskett Junior High.

Dr. Paz received his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Houston.  He also holds a Doctorate in Public Administration from Texas A&M University.

Haskett Junior High was made possible through the voter-approved Bond 2017.  Katy ISD continues to grow by nearly 2,400 new students annually, with the District’s northwest quadrant seeing the most rapid growth.  The District’s 17th junior high will be located in the northwest quadrant of Katy ISD at 25737 Clay Road, Katy, TX 77449.  The new school will welcome students and staff in Fall 2021.
