Literacy Council of Fort Bend County Announces Planned Retirement of Executive Director, Kelli Metzenthin

The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County (LCFBC) announced today that Kelli Metzenthin, Executive Director, will retire after leading the organization for seven years. Kelli will continue with the LCFBC through June 2020 to ensure a smooth and successful transition for her successor.

“We celebrate Kelli’s many accomplishments while leading the organization beginning with her passion for adult literacy,” said Jeff Tallas, LCFBC Board Chair. “She has been instrumental in the implementation and expansion of several programs, including curriculum-based instruction, nationally-recognized student assessments, workforce certification training, family summer reading camps and financial literacy workshops.”

Metzenthin has been particularly effective in reshaping the fundraising strategy for the organization, which has led to steady increases in fundraising efforts. In 2016, the organization began hiring featured authors to be keynote speakers at the annual Reading Between the Wines event. Past nationally known authors include Piper Kerman (Orange is the New Black) and Candace Bushnell (Sex and the City). In 2020, the keynote author will be actor, comedian, director and producer Henry Winkler.

The LCFBC has formed a search committee composed of six current board members to facilitate the search for a new executive director.
