KATY, Texas (Sept. 23, 2019) – Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital was one of three Memorial Hermann Health System hospitals to earn national recognition as a top performer for excellence in delivering high-quality care by the Vizient Quality and Accountability Ranking at the 2019 Vizient Connections Education Summit in Las Vegas on Sept. 19.
Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital received the 2019 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award for Complex Care Medical Centers and ranked sixth nationally of 82 participating hospitals in that category.

Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center received the 2019 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award for Academic Medical Centers, and ranked seventh of 93 participating academic medical centers. Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center received the 2019 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award for Large, Specialized Complex Care Medical Centers and ranked fifth nationally among 79 participating institutions in that category.

The Vizient Quality and Accountability Ranking helps participating hospitals and health systems understand their performance against their peers and identifies structures and processes associated with high performance in quality and safety across a broad spectrum of patient care activity. The recognition period is for work spanning July 2018 through June 2019.
This year, 349 participating hospitals were segmented into four cohorts for the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study: comprehensive academic medical centers, large, specialized complex care medical centers, complex care medical centers and community hospitals. The ranking measured performance based on safety, mortality, clinical effectiveness, efficiency and patient centeredness.
