Katy ISD Offers Community Education Classes for Adults

KATY [September 17, 2019] –  Have you ever wanted to learn how design a cake, play the guitar, or maybe even how to dance the salsa?  The Katy Independent School District Community Education classes are now in session and are aimed at providing opportunities to build expertise, learn a different skill or enjoy a new activity.

With a variety of topics and options, the Community Education courses at Katy ISD provides the general public with learning opportunities that include self-improvement, enrichment, recreation, academic courses and best of all an opportunity to make new friends.  Fall semester classes take place at various Katy ISD high schools during evening hours, and interested individuals can view course availability through the District’s online course catalog.

“For the past 27 years, the Katy ISD Community Education program has grown tremendously with around 80 courses offered per semester,” said Leah Marchione, Director of Internal & Community Relations/Community Education.  “We have found that many participants take a course and return the following semester to continue taking other workshops,” added Marchione.

Registration is available online. Everyone is invited to register for classes, even if you live outside of the Katy ISD district. Certificates of completion are issued for most classes. For questions, call the Community Education department at 281-396-6365.
