Get Tips On Writing College-Application Essays At Cinco Ranch Branch Library Program

The college-application process has become more and more competitive as thousands of students hope to attain one of the coveted spots in the college of their choice. To help college-bound students navigate through this process and complete college-application essays that will make their application stand out, Fort Bend County Libraries will present a special “College-Admissions Essay Workshop” on Saturday, September 14, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon, in the Meeting Room of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy.

Admission essays can be an integral part of the college-application process because they provide a means of telling the student’s story and personalizing their application.

In this workshop, Brannon Lloyd, a college financial-planning educator, will provide helpful tips on writing a college-admissions essay that will truly reflect the overall accomplishments and personality of the student. Students will learn effective ways to choose the best topic to tell their story and to showcase what they can bring to a college beyond a test score or transcript. Students will also get tips that will help strengthen their writing skills.

This program is free and open to the public. For more information, see the Fort Bend County Libraries website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), or call the Cinco Ranch Branch Library (281-395-1311) or the library system’s Communications Office (281-633-4734).
