Washington, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today issued the following statement in support of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that upheld the First Amendment and religious liberty in the Masterpiece Cakeshop ruling:
“The First Amendment protects every American’s right to practice their faith freely. The Supreme Court was right in determining that Jack Phillips’ constitutional rights were not protected by the Colorado Civil Rights Commission action. The government does not have the right to be openly hostile toward people of faith. I applaud this decision, which reaffirms that government agencies must remain neutral in applying the rule of law for all Americans.”
