Big Crowds Flock to Typhoon Texas as Waterpark Opens for 2018 Summer Season

KATY, TX (May 31, 2018) – Houston’s summer waterpark season opened with a major splash as Typhoon Texas welcomed big opening weekend crowds eager to enjoy the park’s upgrades, expanded in-park entertainment and new full-service bar.

“It was by far our most successful opening weekend since our debut in 2016,” says Evan Barnett, general manager of Typhoon Texas.

With brisk pre-opening season pass sales, all signs pointed to a strong start for the Katy waterpark and the warm Memorial Day weekend temperatures certainly helped fueled the crowds.

“I’m so glad it’s finally summer,” said one patron as she dipped her toes in the waterpark’s lazy river.

Typhoon Texas opened with a new and improved slide boarding experience, making it one of the area’s only attractions combining the exhilaration of a water slide with the thrill of a video game.   The park also updated its Buckaroo Bayou, a spacious children’s splash pad and play experience.

Another addition is the all-new Double T Bar, a cozy, full-service bar/entertainment setting adjacent to the park’s River Grille where guests of age can enjoy a frozen adult beverage, craft beer or their favorite mixed drink.

Typhoon Texas also expanded its schedule of in-park entertainment options with more live music and strolling performers in addition to its popular Thursday movie nights, Friday Night Slides with DJ music sounds and Saturday Family Nights with live music.

Now in its third season, Typhoon Texas offers high-speed raft rides and tube slides, free-fall body slides, four-story children’s Gully Washer, Texas-sized wavepool and winding lazy river amidst a clean, safe, family-friendly entertainment destination where Texas hospitality comes first.

Plus, guests enjoy heaping servings of authentic Texas barbecue, slow-smoked onsite for 16 hours, and barbecue sauce from scratch.

Season passes for the 2018 season at Typhoon Texas provide unlimited access to the park and 15 percent off all food and beverage, retail purchases, weekday cabana rentals, Splash Camps and birthday parties.  Season pass holders also can pay for food and beverage with wristband technology that links to a credit or debit card.
