Katy Trash Bash Set for Saturday

Katy city residents looking to get rid of old office equipment and trash have their chance to do so at the upcoming Katy Trash Bash.

The annual event is set for 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at Katy First Baptist Church, 600 Pin Oak Road. The residential collection event is for city residents only and participants must show their driver’s license at the entrance. No business drop-offs will be permitted at the event.

Computer equipment accepted includes computers, peripherals (copiers, plotters, printers, and scanners), and accessories (cables, cords, keyboards, mouse, and speakers). It also includes external disk memory, hard drives, circuit boards, electronic components and chips, network hubs, modems, routers, televisions, and monitors.

Office and business equipment accepted include cellular phones and cell phone charges, inkjet and laser jet toner cartridges, PDAs, PDA cradles and other hand-held devices, photocopiers and multi-use copiers, and telephone and telecommunication and/or switching systems.

CDs, DVDs, and magnetic tapes will also be accepted.

Confidential data destruction is available.

In addition to garbage drop-off, the event will also have electronic recycling and paper shredding.

Items not accepted include: Bio hazards (including potentially contaminated medical equipment and devices), bulk construction materials, flammable material,

Freon-containing material, nuclear materials, PCB-containing materials, radioactive materials, and transformers.

Katy Spring Community Garage Sale Set for April 21

Katy city residents holding garage sales are invited to sign up for a city-sponsored register to advertise their sale.

The list, when published, enables those looking for sales to better plan their day.

To register for the free advertising, residents must complete a form and return it in person at City Hall, 901 Avenue C, or they can fax it to 281-391-2134, or they can e-mail it to kkb@cityofkaty.com.

Registration deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 18.

A printed list will be available for pickup April 20 at City Hall. It will also be published on the city’s web site.

The community garage sale is held twice a year. The second sale is set for November.
