HeartGift Welcomes Patient from Kosovo

On Wednesday April 5th Yll, a thirteen year old boy from Kosovo, underwent a lifesaving heart procedure at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.  This procedure corrected the congenital heart defect he was born with, Atrial Septal Defect (ASD.)

Yll was able to travel from his home in Gjilan Kosovo to Houston TX via the HeartGift program.  HeartGift provides lifesaving heart surgery to children from around the world where specialized medical treatment is either scarce or nonexistent.

Yll will remain in Houston recovering for the next week before traveling home.  His stay and medical care is possible because of volunteers and donors in our community.  Yll and his Father, Samir are being hosted by Lloyd and Pranvera Tiwari of Houston.  Yll is a bright, fun loving young man who speaks excellent English.

“The generosity of the Houston community members and medical professionals to provide the partnerships necessary to make this a reality for Yll is truly a blessing.”  Rachael Wright, Executive Director.
