HOUSTON, TX– Today Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) joined President Donald Trump as he signed two energy related executive orders. The first executive order takes a number of steps to cut red tape and improve the transportation of American energy. The second executive order aims to streamline the oversight and approval process to boost cross-border energy infrastructure. The event took place at the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) International Training and Education Center in Crosby, TX.
“As America’s global energy dominance continues to grow, we must ensure we have the infrastructure and laws in place to support the expansion of American Liquid Freedom,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “I was proud to stand with President Trump in Houston, the epicenter for energy production, as he signed these executive orders today. Streamlining the permitting and transportation of American energy will ensure we continue to grow as an energy super power by supporting current and future energy projects.”
The first executive order:
- Ensures that the Clean Water Act is being followed in a way that will undo years of red tape that have slowed energy projects;
- Requires that the Department of Transportation and the Department of Energy report on issues with energy transportation, including energy shortages in New England and hurdles to exporting energy from the West Coast;
- Requires the Department of Transportation to create a pathway for the movement of Liquefied Natural Gas by rail.
The second executive order streamlines the process for considering an international oil pipeline to prevent future issues such as what happened with Keystone XL from happening again.
